Who am I? Neil Killey, an experienced International rally driver and
National SCCA Road Race license holder.
I have raced a variety of cars in both SCCA regional and national road racing
events every year since 1999. Highlights include winning Northern California's
Rookie of the Year in 1999; establishing a new lap record around Arizona
Motorsport Park in a Spec Miata in 2003, Heartland Park Topeka in 2017 and La Junta Raceway in 2019, both in a Spec Racer Ford;
winning the National event at Beaverun in 2010, and multiple Majors events in 2017;
and winning the 2014 North-East Division Championship.
Prior to road racing I rallied (driver)
in Europe, including a full season in the National Dutch Rally Championship
in 1989. I also competed in the 2000 through 2003 SCCA Pro Rally Championship
as a navigator to Sean McKenna, with our best finish 6th overall (of
55 competitors) in the Rally USA in 2003. Between 1994 and
1999 I competed in local drag racing street events, winning 3 events in a standard stick-shift
car!
Currently I am racing Regional and National (Majors) SCCA races
in a Spec Racer Ford.
What do I race? Currently I am racing my own Spec Racer Ford.
What have I raced? A Vauxhall Astra (Dutch National rally championships); a 1994 Acura Integra VTEC, a 1990 Pontiac Grand Prix, and a 1998 Ford Mustang GT (all at local drag racing events); a 1971 Datsun 510 (1999 Regional Race Racing Championships); a 1974 Datsun B210 (2000 NASA Enduro); two (different) 1991 Mazda Miatas (2000 through 2006 Regional and National races & 2002 Pro Spec Miata racing); a Spec Racer Ford since 2007 in Regional and National races.
What else? I have been a high performance driving instructor at the Texas World Speedway's Driver's Education school and the Thunderhill High Performance Street School, and an instructor at various SCCA licensing schools (2000 through 2014). I earn a living as a Management Consultant, working with Deloitte Consulting on projects around the country.
